Harmony experience with Xbox 360
It's compatible with all Harmony products
Setup
- Set up your Xbox 360
- Setup and configure your Xbox 360, install any desired apps such as Netflix or Amazon.
- Connect Harmony and Xbox 360
- Once connected, you'll be able to set up and use Activities which include your Xbox 360 console.
Xbox 360 has a power management feature that will turn off your console after a period of inactivity. We recommend Harmony always be used to power on and off your devices and therefore this power management feature should be disabled.

Add Xbox 360 to your Harmony setup
- Select MENU, then Harmony Setup > Add/Edit Devices & Activities > DEVICES.
- Select DEVICES and then press the ADD DEVICE button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select ENTERTAINMENT DEVICE and enter manufacturer, Microsoft and model number Xbox 360.
- Select the Devices tab on the left side of the screen.
- Select the Add device button.
- Enter the manufacturer Microsoft and model number Xbox 360.
Creating a Play Game Activity
- Select the Activities tab on the left side of the screen.
- Select the Add Activity button.
- Select the Play a Game Activity type and select Next.
- Continue through the series of questions to build your Activity.
- Once complete, click Sync in the upper-right corner to update your remote.
- Launch the Harmony app and sign into your account.
- Select your Harmony remote, followed by DEVICES > ADD DEVICE.
- Enter manufacturer Microsoft and model Xbox 360.
- Finally, select the sync icon in the upper right corner of the settings menu, followed by SYNC NOW.
Control
Netflix
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the Netflix app.
Media Keys such as Play, Pause, Stop, Fast-Forward and Rewind commands work. Netflix allows you to move a frame forward or backward using the direction left and right arrows.
Text entry is possible using the Harmony app.
.Amazon
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the Amazon app.
Media Keys such as Play, Pause, Stop, Fast-Forward and Rewind commands work.
Amazon does not permit keyboard text entry and only allows for direction pad navigation of their on-screen keyboard.
YouTube
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the YouTube app.
Media Keys such as Play, Pause, Stop, Fast-Forward and Rewind commands work. YouTube allows you to navigate between videos using the Direction Right and Left commands.
Text entry is possible using the Harmony app.
.Browser
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the web browser.
Media Keys are not used within the Browser app.
Text entry is possible using Harmony Smart Keyboard or Harmony app.
Other apps
The behavior of other apps may vary based on the app's design.
Customize
Harmony has already optimized the buttons on your remote; however you can further customize these buttons depending on your preference.
Harmony displays commands specific to your Play Game Activity on your remote's screen. You can add, remove, or rename them.
You can view common Xbox 360 commands on your phone or tablet screen. You can add, remove, or rearrange these commands.
By default, swiping up or down on the gestures screen will change volume. There are 22 gestures in total, view and customize them from the app.

I'm having trouble connecting Harmony with my Xbox 360
Your Xbox 360 may require a firmware update, Harmony works with Xbox 360's system version 6.2.10698 or later.
I need to press a command on my remote more than once for it to work
Microsoft Xbox 360 requires that IR signals be directed more precisely at the center of the game console. Harmony hub‑based remote users should position a mini-blaster near the Xbox 360 IR receiver for optimal reception.
If you're having difficulty controlling this device we recommend positioning an IR mini blaster as shown in the diagram below. If you're using an infrared remote such as Harmony 650, be sure to point the remote perpendicular, straight-on to the game console, directed to the center of the device.
Setup
Adding Xbox 360 to your Harmony setup
- Launch the Harmony Express app and tap Edit Setup.

Next, tap + to perform a Wi‑Fi scan, and select your device.
- If your device isn't found, ensure it's on the same Wi-Fi network as Harmony Express.
- If you still have issues, reboot your device and router then try again.
- Tap Continue and follow the on-screen prompts.
Control
Voice
You can use your voice to send commands such as turn on, turn off, and more. Tap What to say in the Harmony Express app to see sample commands for your device. Launching apps using your voice is not supported for this device.

Remote
Although Harmony has already mapped default commands to your remote buttons, you have the ability to assign custom commands to them. For more information, see: Customizing physical buttons on your remote

Amazon

Media Keys such as Play, Pause, Stop, FastForward and Rewind commands work. Hulu allows you to skip 10 seconds forward or back using the direction left and right arrows.
YouTube
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the YouTube app.
Media Keys such as Play, Pause, Stop, FastForward and Rewind commands work. YouTube allows you to navigate between videos using the Direction Right and Left commands.
Browser
Direction Pad Navigation will navigate the Browser app.
Media Keys are not used within the Browser app.

Harmony Hub pairs and controls Xbox 360 using IR. Your Harmony Hub and Xbox 360 require a direct line of sight.
Xbox 360 is compatible with all IR (infrared) based products. Your Harmony remote and Xbox 360 require a direct line of sight.
Xbox 360 may be controlled using infrared (IR) signals that are sent directly from your Harmony remote as well as using your voice after pressing the OK button.
