Customizing physical buttons on your remote

Learn how to adjust the physical/hard buttons on your remote, such as changing what the blue button can do. Harmony allows you to customize the function of the physical buttons on your remote, button customizations are unique for each Activity they're assigned to.

Customizing your buttons

Harmony hub‑based remotes allow you to customize buttons using either the MyHarmony desktop software or the Harmony mobile app. Harmony Touch remotes must use the desktop software. The home control buttons at the top of the Harmony Companion remote must be customized through the mobile app.

Adjusting physical buttons

  1. Navigate to MENU, then select Harmony Setup > Add/Edit Devices > REMOTE & HUB.

  2. Buttons that don't currently have any commands assigned to them will have a blue border. Hovering over any button will show you what command will be sent, and to what device.
  3. You can always restore button customizations back to the Harmony defaults by selecting Restore Defaults in the lower, left corner.

  1. Scroll down to the command you would like to send.
  2. Drag the command over to the picture of the remote and drop it onto the button we want to assign it to.
  3. Is your command missing?

Make sure you've selected the correct device, or search for similarly named commands. For example, sometimes the "OK" button may be named "Enter", or "Left Arrow" may be named "Direction Left". If the command isn't listed then you may need to teach Harmony a new command.
