Harmony Express simplifies your entertainment experience by automatically managing your devices. Unlike other universal remotes, Harmony Express lets you use your voice to guide your experience the way you want.
The Harmony Express remote enables one-touch voice control of your home entertainment and home automation systems.
Harmony Blaster
Your Harmony blaster should be placed near your television and other entertainment equipment. The blaster uses Infrared (IR), Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi to control your devices.
IR mini-blaster
The mini-blaster connects to the back of your blaster and helps extend coverage for IR controlled devices. Place the mini-blaster in line of sight to the devices that are out of range to your blaster. The mini-blaster is helpful if your entertainment system has closed cabinets and you have devices behind cabinet doors.
Use of the mini-blaster may or may not be required, depending on your setup.
Power adapter
Connect the power adapter to your Harmony blaster. It takes approximately 30 seconds for the blaster to power‑on.
USB cable
Use the provided USB cable to charge your Harmony Express remote. This cable is only for charging and does not transmit data.
Charging your remote
Your Harmony Express remote is rechargeable. With normal use, it should last at least one month between charges.
Use the USB cable that's included with your Harmony Express purchase to charge your remote (USB power adapter not included).
Positioning the blaster
Harmony Express comes with an AC adapter which supplies power to your blaster.
It is important where you place the blaster and mini-blaster.
You must use the supplied AC adapter (do not use a USB cable and plug it into your tv).
Open Cabinets
IR signals from your blaster can reflect off of walls and other surfaces before reaching your devices. Your blaster does not need to be in front of your devices, but should be nearby.
Position your Harmony blaster in an unobstructed area.
Your blaster should be in line of sight of your devices.
Closed Cabinets
Position your Harmony blaster inside the cabinet, on or beside your entertainment devices.
Plug in and position your mini-blaster in an unobstructed area so it may send signals.
Ensure your device meets the minimum requirements and install the Harmony Express app.
iOS 10.0 or later is supported
Android 5.0 or later is supported
Bluetooth 3.0 is required
Launch the app and select Set Up New Harmony Express.
Continue through the various screens following the instructions until you receive a message stating “found it”:
Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
Ensure your phone is connected to your home Wi‑Fi network.
Ensure your Harmony blaster is powered on.
The Harmony Express app should find your blaster after a few moments.
Having trouble?
Try disabling and then re-enabling Bluetooth and airplane mode on your phone. If you continue to experience issues, we recommend troubleshooting your connections.
Getting set up
When launching the Harmony Express app, you’ll be presented with two options, Set up new Harmony Express and Returning user.
Set up new Harmony Express — Use this option if you don’t have a Harmony Express or MyHarmony account.
Returning user — Use this option if you already have a Harmony Express or MyHarmony account.
If you select Set up new Harmony Express, you will need to configure your Wi‑Fi:
The Harmony Express app will scan for available networks, select your network and follow the on-screen prompts
* Once connected to the internet, your Express blaster will search for and install the latest firmware.
Add your devices:
Harmony should dectect most of your Wi‑Fi connected devices, others may need to be added manually.
For devices that were not automatically added, press the I don’t see my device + and enter your device's details.
Using the drop and drag method you can specify which devices connect to which inputs on your TV or sound system (AVR or soundbar).
Follow the on-screen prompts to finish setting up your account.
How does it all work together:
Press and hold the OK button on your Express remote.
Tell Express what you want it to do (e.g., "Turn on TV ", or "Go to Netflix app").
NOTE: Your Harmony Express remote sends signals to the blaster, which is used control your entertainment devices.

Built-in Alexa voice control
Unlike other Alexa-enabled smart speakers, your Harmony Express remote isn't always listening. Pressing the OK button on your remote enables listening for the duration of your press, allowing you to use your voice to send commands.

Quick launch for apps and channels
You have the ability to choose which device launches a specific app, such as Netflix or YouTube. This means you can choose your Smart TV to go to Netflix, but use your Fire TV to go to HBO GO.
The buttons on your Harmony Express are designed to simplify naviation, playback, and volume control. To learn more, launch the Harmony Express app and navigate to Menu → Know Your Remote.
You are able to configure certains buttons to send one command when using a long press, and send an alternate command when using a short press.

Harmony Voice Coach
Harmony Express comes equipped with a voice tutorial to help you understand what you can say when you want to turn on a device, go to an app, or go to a channel. You can access the voice coach by pressing the OK button and saying “Start Harmony Voice Coach”.
Harmony Voice Help
Did one of your devices not power on or switch to the correct input? You can say, "Start Harmony Voice Help" and you will be asked a series of questions to help reconfigure your setup.
Find my remote
Misplace your remote? Just launch the Express app and tap the remote icon on the right, mid-center of your screen then follow the on-screen prompts.
Making changes
How do I add or change devices in my setup?
You can edit your setup using the Harmony Express app.
How do I change my default streaming device for my apps like Netflix, Amazon Video etc?
You can launch the Harmony Express app and tap Room Settings, followed by Configured Apps to edit the devices used to go to specific apps.
Questions & Answers
How do I adjust the volume for the built-in speaker?
Your Harmony Express has a built-in speaker to reply to your commands (it's not designed for music playback). There are three different volume settings for the built-in speaker; Low, Medium, and High. Follow the steps below to adjust its setting.
1. Launch the Harmony Express app and tap Room Settings.
2. Adjust the slider underneath Remote Volume to your desired setting.
Can I search for TV shows using my voice?
At the moment, Harmony Express cannot search for TV shows by name, but we are working on that.
However, you can use your voice to tune to live TV channels on cable, satellite, and antenna. You can also go to streaming apps on most devices.
Fire TV owners can use Alexa’s content search functionality by saying things like "Find Big Bang Theory on Fire TV”. For other popular devices such as DISH Hopper, TiVo, FiOS, and more, you can install your device's Alexa skill to utilize Alexa's content search functionality.
How do I power my devices on or off?
Turn on your devices:
You can say "turn on" followed by your device name. For example, "turn on Fire TV ", or "turn on TV ".
Turn off your devices:
You can say "turn off" followed by your device name. For example, "turn off Fire TV ", or "turn off TV ". You may also turn off your devices by holding the mute button for three seconds.
Tap "What to say" in the Express app for examples which include your devices.
How do I control multiple set-top-boxes?
If you're using multiple set-top-boxes in your account, you can use your voice on either of them to; "turn on", "turn off", "go to DVR", and so on. When selecting a channel using your voice, your primary set-top-box will take over to change the channel and handle any subsequent commands. You cannot select channels with your voice on a secondary set-top-box.
How do I control more than one room or TV?
The Harmony Express was designed to be a single room solution, so the ability to control multiple rooms or TVs is not possible. If you need to replace a device, see: Replacing a device in your account
How do I customize the buttons on my remote?
1. Launch the Harmony Express app and tap Device Settings.
2. Tap the device you would like to customize, followed by Button Customization.
3. Follow the on-screen promptes to update your button settings.
◦ Buttons in the Default tab cannot be updated.
How do I control a single device in my setup?
You may control a device independently and utilize additional commands within the Harmony Express app.
1. Launch the Harmony Express app and tap the Device Settings.
2. Select the device you'd like to control and select Device Commands.

How does Harmony Express work with my other Alexa devices?

I lost my remote, how can I find it?
We know how important your time is and how easy it can be to misplace your remote. Harmony Express offers a solution for this called Remote Finder.
1. Launch the Harmony Express app.
2. Tap the remote icon on the right, mid-center side of the screen.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to locate your remote.
What do the lights on the remote and blaster mean?
The LED status on your blaster and remote may be used to identify the state of your Harmony setup. For more information, see Harmony LED status
Download the setup software
Depending on your remote, you can set up and configure Harmony using either the MyHarmony desktop software or Harmony mobile app for iOS and Android.
