Setup

Add Sony Smart TV to your Harmony setup

  1. Launch the Harmony app and connect to your Harmony hub.
  2. Select MENU, then Harmony Setup > Add/Edit Devices & Activities > DEVICES.

  1. Select ADD DEVICE at the bottom, followed by SCAN FOR DEVICES ON YOUR NETWORK.
  2. Harmony will search for Sony Android TV devices on your home network.
  3. Tap to the box next to Sony TV, followed by NEXT.
    • You'll be prompted to pair your Sony TV with Harmony.
Scan Wi-FI
  1. Continue through the series of questions to build your Watch Smart TV Activity.
  1. Launch the MyHarmony desktop software and sign into your account.
  2. Select your Harmony product from the Remote Gallery screen.
  3. Select the Devices tab on the left side of the screen.

  3. Connect your Harmony remote to your computer with the provided USB cable. Harmony will scan your home network for devices. Ensure both Sony Android TV and your Harmony hub are on the same Wi‑Fi network.
    • Once complete, you'll be prompted to pair your Sony TV with Harmony.
  1. Select the Add device button.
  2. Enter the manufacturer Sony and enter your model number.

  1. Launch the Harmony app and sign into your account.
  2. Select your Harmony remote, followed by DEVICES > ADD DEVICE.
  3. Enter manufacturer Sony and model number for the smart TV you're adding.
  4. Finally, select the sync icon in the upper right corner of the settings menu, followed by SYNC NOW.

Control

Using your Sony Smart TV

Below are some tips on using Harmony with your Sony Smart TV. Once you've added your TV to Harmony and setup is complete, we recommend setting up a Smart TV Activity.

Harmony hub‑based products can control select Sony Smart TVs, and also add additional capabilities. Using the Harmony app

  • Control icon lists commonly used Sony Smart TV buttons.
  • Gestures allows you to control your Activity using simple swipe gestures over your phone screen. For example, swiping up/down will change your volume.
  • Favorites will display all your Sony Smart TV channels for easy switching.
  • Voiceand Text entry allows you to control your Sony Smart TV using your mobile device's keyboard and/or microphone.

Adjust the physical buttons on your remote

Harmony has already optimized the buttons on your remote; however you can further customize these buttons depending on your preference.

Add, remove or rename commands on your remotes screen

Harmony automatically imports your Sony Smart TV channels and displays them under the favorites section on your Harmony remote. Commands specific to your Watch Smart TV Activity are also displayed for which you can add, remove or rename them.

Customize Harmony app buttons

You can view common Sony Smart TV commands on your phone or tablet screen. You can add, remove or rearrange these commands.

Set your own swipe gestures

By default, swiping up or down on the gestures screen will change volume. There are 22 gestures in total, view and customize them from the app.

FAQs

I copied my Harmony remote settings to a new remote and now I am not able to control the TV

When you copied settings from an existing remote, you will need to pair the new remote to the your TV again.

  • From the Harmony app, select the Devices tab.
  • Select your Sony TV.
  • Tap on any command listed on the first page to start the pairing process.
  • Enter the 4 digit number displayed on your TV screen.
  • Press Done.

Harmony will not prompt my Sony TV to pair when going through a new setup

If your Harmony hub has previously been registered with your TV, then you must deregister it first.. Follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Temporarily deregister your Harmony Remote with the TV.

  • Power on the TV
  • Using your TV’s original remote, press the Home button
  • Navigate to Settings
  • Navigate to the Network & Accessories section.
  • Select Network > Remote device settings > Deregister remote device
  • Select Logitech Harmony, followed by deregister

Step 2: Registering your Harmony Remote with the TV.

Steps when the TV is already added to the Harmony account.

  • From the Harmony app, select the Devices tab
  • Select Sony TV
  • Tab on any command listed on the first page to start the pairing process
  • Enter the 4 digit number displayed on your TV screen
  • Press Done.

Step 3: Restarting the TV and the App to get a pairing code.

Using the TV remote.

  • Power ON the TV
  • Press the HOME button
  • Navigate to SETTINGS
  • About
  • Select Restart

Once the TV has restarted wait 30 seconds and continue with the instructions from Step 2.

My Harmony remote no longer controls my TV

If your Harmony hub has previously been registered with your TV, then you must deregister it first.. Follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Temporarily deregister your Harmony Remote with the TV.

  • Power on the TV
  • Using your TV’s original remote, press the Home button
  • Navigate to Settings
  • Navigate to the Network & Accessories section.
  • Select Network > Remote device settings > Deregister remote device
  • Select Logitech Harmony, followed by deregister

Step 2: Registering your Harmony Remote with the TV.

I'm not able to control the TV when my Harmony hub is out of sight

Select your TV's Android version:

  • IP Control is supported on select Sony Bravia TV models, removing the need to place your hub near the TV. If you own a supported TV and are having trouble using this feature:
    • Ensure your Sony Smart TV and Harmony hub are on the same home network. Navigate to the Home screen and select Settings > Network and verify that your TV and Harmony hub are connected to the same network.
    • Ensure Remote device/renderer is enabled. Navigate to the Home screen on your Sony TV and select Settings > Network > Remote device settings > Control remotely and set it to On.
    • Ensure Remote Start is enabled. Navigate to the Home screen on your Sony TV and select Settings > Network > Remote Start > On.
Still not working?

After changing the above settings, you may be required to remove your Sony Smart TV from your Harmony setup, and then re-add it to enable IP Control functionality.

I want to use the Harmony app for Sony Android TV

The Harmony app for Sony Android TV is no longer available on the Sony Android TV app market. If previously installed, you may still use the app to control your Harmony Activities, even using your original remote, from the Android TV interface. See below for more details.

Accessing your Harmony Activities and devices

Access your Harmony Activities and devices right from your TV screen, there's no need to look down at your remote and risk missing something important. The Action Menu can hold up to ten of your Activities, by default this will be your first ten. If you have more than ten Activities, you can deselect and select Activities you want accessible from the Action Menu.

Starting or ending your Activities

  1. Using your Sony remote, press the ACTION MENU button.
  2. Access the menu option that's second from the right and select your Activity.

  1. Using your Sony remote, press the ACTION MENU button.
  2. Access the rightmost menu option and select the type of device you'd like to control.
  3. A new menu will open up, allowing you direct control of your device.

Notice

The Harmony app for Sony Android TV is unable to control smart locks. Attempting to start an Activity that contains a smart lock will fail and none of the associated devices will turn on.

Setup

Adding Sony Android TV to your Harmony setup

  1. Launch the Harmony Express app and tap Edit Setup.
  2. Next, tap + to perform a Wi‑Fi scan, and select your device.
    • If your device isn't found, ensure it's on the same Wi-Fi network as Harmony Express.
    • If you still have issues, reboot your device and router then try again.
  3. Tap Continue and follow the on-screen prompts.

Control

Voice

You can use your voice to send commands such as turn on, turn off, and more. Tap What to say in the Harmony Express app to see sample commands for your device. Launching apps using your voice is not supported for this device.

Harmony Hub connects with Sony Android TV through your home's network allowing navigation and control from your Harmomy remote, or the Harmony app

Sony Android TV may be controlled using infrared (IR) signals that are sent directly from your Harmony remote. Android TV cannot launch or end Activities without being connected to a Harmony hub‑based product

Depending on your Harmony configuration with Sony Android TV, Harmony will either control this device using Wi-Fi or infrared (IR) signals.

Cloud Access

Depending on your devices and integrations, Harmony remote may need Cloud Access in order to function properly. Please see the Harmony Cloud Access article for more information and instructions on how to turn it on.
